Chatham is a village in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The village lies along the original alignment of historic U.S. Route 66 (Illinois Route 4). Chatham is part of the Springfield, Illinois metropolitan area, located about 5 minutes south of the capital city.
According to the United States Census Bureau in 2012, the estimated population is 11,946, with the village having a total area of 5.0 square miles (12.9 km2), all of it land.
